August is winding down

I love fresh tomatoes and so I am making tomato sauce and juice. I had 75 pounds of tomatoes and got 25 quarts of yummy red stuff.

I love to hear the "pop" of the canning jars when they are filled and sealed! I started last night and before I could finish our water went off. Somewhere down the road a main line was broke and so......we had no water. I got up at 5 to finish. Yeah! I am now done with the tomatoes.

I juiced blackberries yesterday too, I will make jelly and syrup. I need to go and get some rings and maybe some jelly jars. We make lots of jelly and give it away as gifts. Sometimes I get the jars back and sometimes I don't, but I am getting low. I figure this will make 15 jars of jelly, and 3 quarts of syrup.

Here's my sweet one, on his first day of school and no momma here to take his picture. I left him a note with the camera on top with directions to take his picture. He sat the camera on the stairs and set it to timer. He did a grand job! I can't believe he's a junior in high school.

Yes, I am home. It's nice to be home! So nice to be out of that hospital. It's a wonderful hospital and the majority of the nurses were exceptional. We stayed in a hotel right door until Dad was able to function on his own; and then we went to my aunt's about 20 minutes away. It's been an ordeal! My goodness, we should all be so very thankful for our health. Take care of your bodies! Bless my dad's heart, he's still getting sick; they tell him he just needs to walk - he's a little weak but he and mom are walking every hour now even if it's just out to the road and back. He did get some food, mashed taters and cream of wheat. He has a long recovery ahead of him.

He asked me to pray for him. First time ever! He always asks me to say the blessing but in the hospital he asked me to come and pray over him. Of course, I had been praying without ceasing since we found out he was having the surgery, but this is new for him. Once we prayed, he wanted to walk down to the family waiting room and pray again before mom and I left. That was the day he turned around his thinking and started getting better. God is amazing! I wrote on his medical board -"....not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord." Zech 4:6.

My spirits were very low, mom and I were exhausted and when I had a moment to get on the hospital computer I found a angel had sent me a message - Les, your words meant so much to me! Thank you!

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up.......James 5:15
Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing instant in prayer.....Romans 12:12

And so my life goes, I am off tomorrow to see my folks, help them in whatever ways we can; and to celebrat 92 years with my Gramma. I don't think she knows it's her birthday but the Lord knows and that's enough for me.

Nothin prettier than a cabinet covered in jars of beautiful red canned tomatoes! Oh how I wish my tomatoes had produced this year. My favorite thing to can, next to salsa is stewed tomatoes with onions and peppers. There is no chili that can compare when using those! Even though you've been working...I'm sure it was nice to have your thoughts on something else....oh how good it is to be home! I'm so happy to hear that your dad is improving...slowly I know. I'm so glad you were encouraged---I must tell you that you were on my mind a lot last week...isn't that strange? Someone I've never met in person and I was so concerned for you and your family.
What a handsome son you have! I'm so impressed that he used the camera AND the timer on the camera! That's impressive. Have a wonderful weekend!
The joy of the Lord is my Strength!

Wow girl you have been busy. I love to can tomatoes, but haven't had that many to can yet. Our are late as usual.
And blackberries, yum. I may have to go and pick some they have some farms up by the mountains.
I am sooo glad your dad is home. And that asked you to pray for him..that is awesome.
We lifted all of you up last night at CC.
Prayer is such as awesome gift that we have. I know that I take it very much for granted.

And no Les it is not strange. We are all connected through our mutual belief in the Lord. We are all one body. The Lord works in wonderful ways.

That boy is getting just too handsome. I bet you and Dh will have to swat the little gals away from him this year. Ha HA

Love ya

I agree, Les - I love these gals and I know you do too! What a treasure we have found!

And how many times, as a mother, Countrygirl, can you hear women tell you how handsome your son is!

Love and blessings to you all!
