Spirit West Coast '08

Wow! What a great week! Dolphins, seals, pirate ships, Third Day, Building 429, Phil Joel, TobyMac, Newsboys, Barlow Girl, Superchick and more - that was our week. DD flew into Sacramento, we picked her up there and headed for the ocean. We stayed in a hotel on the beach - well actually it was a few blocks away but it was on the sand! We got up the next morning and played in the ocean. Went into Monterey, ate at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Factory (yum), saw dolphins, and seals, and an otter, then we saw a pirate ship coming into dock. It was very cool! (This is a dolphin splashing)

Out to SWC to set up camp, we got there when the gates opened and we waited for an hour to get in. We found a fairly level camping spot and sat up camp. It was nice and cool! We needed our jackets, don't need them in 101 degrees Nevada. We listened to Building 429 while we arranged the kitchen, etc.

Next day, we head out to hear Building 429 again, they had a good testimony and message. Our camp was about 2 miles from SWC; we walked all but 2 times. They do run a shuttle but we decided to walk as much as possible. The walk was steep but then mostly downhill; we chose a different path back. It was uphill but not as steep. It's so nice to not have to worry about where the kids are, they can run around and go to whoever they want to. DS went to so many different bands - he can't remember their names. He's in a youtube video but doesn't know the name of the band! Ha! We are rejuvenated and refueled to go into the world and be the light God calls us to be!

We went to the ocean another day, drove the 17 mile drive around Pebble Beach - it's beautiful! Right along the ocean, they had a seal island to look at. We saw some of the local sights, ds got out the boogie and skin boards; then we headed back to camp. TobyMac is so good - they get everyone up and moving! To see 10,000 people praising God is amazing! Truly amazing! Wonder if it's a glimpse of Heaven.

Great pics! Looks like you had a wonderful time!

Thanks for the visit to my Sky Watch this week. I had to post a bit early and composed the draft yesterday. I don't know how to get blogger to show the date I actually post, rather than when I compose the draft. :::so much to learn:::

That sounds like so much fun! So happy you guys had such a good trip and what a blessing to be re-fueled with so many others! Hard to imagine you needed jackets...we're having that same 101 temp here...or earlier this week we were, it's actually cooled off to 90 yesterday and today!
