Blow, wind, blow

It hit 70 today, but you couldn't tell it. The wind is here, howling and blowing anything not tied down to...., well...., maybe out to NM or even KS! Ha! It was a beautiful day, even with the wind!

I had to go to town (ugh!) - I am not a townie! Not really a shopper, unless it's crafts or antiques, western wear - sometimes. So ds and I went to get him a loan to buy an older 4wd pickup. Guess what? In NV you can't have a loan unless you're 18. They sure don't mind keeping his savings account but have a problem with lending him any! I did not know this. My other kids had many loans, in Texas. Are the states that different? I guess so, Josh was 9 when he got his first one, we signed with him but it was his loan for 4H animals and then down the road he had a few for horses. So........ they wanted me to "sign up for $5000 revolving credit" and he could use that. Adjustable interest that goes up and down with the prime! "It's a great deal, you just can't beat it. And while you're here would you like to get a 2nd on your house? I can set you up with that?" When I politely refused all those offers, ds was refused a loan! Poor guy! We wanted him to have some financial responsibility before he leaves in a few years so he can handle his money. He has bought a little dodge pickup, has a fair savings account, which I would think would be collateral - what do I know? Nothing, obviously! Ha!

Anyway, back to going to town! I had to get my snow tires off and regular tires on - the deadline is April 15th (oops, I'm a few days late). Here's the kicker - we are supposed to get snow on Sunday! Ha! Life's funny! As Sara quoted, "Life is good, eternal life is better!" Don't think we'll need loans, 4w drives, or snowtires in Heaven! Horses, yes I do think horses will be there!

This world is not my home, I'm only passing thru...........
May the good Lord take a likin' to ya,

It is crazy with these kids. Last winter when Taylor broke his foot. It was on a weekday and during,'school' hours. Well the nurse made a smart comment about she guessed that child labor laws didn't apply to agriculture. It burned me. My word he was 17 years old for one thing, and the other, it was none of her business. You try and teach your kids to be responsible and grow up to be responsible adults and see what you get for it. It burns me too when during the summer I go to town and see these healthy teenage boys just roaming the streets, doing nothing. When I was on high school, back in the dark ages, kids worked in the summer. Pumping gas, sacking groceries, baby sitting etc. Now is is hard for them to find a job. When Sara went to work for'Reins' we had to sign paper after paper. Well that is my rant for the day!
Have a great one

I negotiated with a teen boy to mow a yard that I had listed and we worked a deal of $30. He lived next door. His mama called me and said he wouldn't do it for less then $50. The yard wasn't even 1/2an acre. I said forget it, spent $40 in gas to haul the mowers the one hour drive and paid my 9 year old $20 to mow. I remember mowing a lawn for $5! BTW I even offered to pay the gas!
