Friday night, DS bought us tickets to see Baxter Black. When I was younger, he was the consultant vet for my dad. They lived up the hill from us for over 6 years. I have wonderful memories of him playing the quitar and singing - (this was before he was famous). So.......off we went into town. He was hilarious! Some of the people who don't understand prolapses, bloats, calf fries, etc didn't get some of his humor but David and I were laughing non stop. He had one somber poem, about a young kid and an old man staying together in a far off camp - it was good, too. We laughed so hard our bodies hurt the next day. Afterwards, David bought us his latest book, and we visited while he autographed. It's good to see old friends - and he's a very special friend to my family. When I did a video on my dad a few years ago, Baxter wrote a "word" for it. It was very touching for my dad when I read it.
Anyway, if ya'll EVER have a chance to go and see him - GO! He's the same guy I met when I was 8 years old, he's genuine, and he's got a great gift from God.
We do need to laugh, we need to be joyful, we need to let others see that no matter what is going on in this world - the one to come, for us, will be full of joy and thanksgiving!

We love him ! Years ago he came to Roswell and did a performance at NMMI. It was wonderful. But boy you could sure tell the country folks from the city ones. We were in stitches throughout the whole thing. And they just sat there with blank looks on their faces.
You are sooooo right we need to laugh and good wholesome country humor is a blessing.

I enjoy him, too! My former boss was a large animal vet (read: cows, cows, and more cows :P) before he started doing companion animals only, so I became well acquainted with Baxter Black's comedy.

We saw him a couple years back! He can bring out all the stinky stuff of country life and make it downright hilarious - if only we could laugh at it when we are experiencing it!
